Applicants must be residents of Nova Scotia. Immediate family members of Gambling Awareness Nova Scotia staff are not eligible.

Is there a limit to the number of students on a team?

No, there is no limit to the amount of students that can be on a team. But remember, the total scholarship in each category will be equally divided among team members who submitted the top videos in each category. All team members must meet the eligibility requirements. Ensure all team members are listed on the Submission Form.

Can I submit a video by myself?
Sure! Both single entries and team entries will be accepted.

What format should I submit my video in?
Videos must be submitted in .MOV or MPEG-4 format on a DVD-R or DVD-RW.

What are .AVI, .MOV, and MPEG-4 file formats?
.AVI is the most common file format for audio/video data on PCs.

A .MOV file is a movie file format that is sometimes referred to as the Apple QuickTime Movie format. This format is limited to Quicktime; the Quicktime Player is available for free online.

MPEG-4 is a popular movie format that can be used with Quicktime. MPEF-4 can be played on a variety of players and on a broader range of hardware than .MOV files.

What is a DVD-R or DVD-RW?
A DVD-R is a writeable DVD. This means that content can be saved on it. DVD-RWs are re-writeable DVDs. Either is acceptable for submitting a video, but DVD-R is preferred.

When will Scholarship recipients be notified?
Scholarship recipients will be notified by September 2011.

How will Scholarship recipients be contacted?
Scholarship recipients (i.e. successful applicants) will be contacted via the telephone number and email address listed on the Submission Form. Please ensure your contact information is correct and printed clearly.

How are the scholarship recipients chosen?
This year, videos will be judged in two categories: "GANS' Choice" and "Viewers' Choice". This means that GANS will choose a top video based on specific judging criteria, and a second top video will be chosen by viewers on facebook. All videos will be availble for viewing at facebook.com/GamblingAwareness on June 6, 2011. The video with the most ‘likes’ at the close of the Viewers' Choice Judging Period (June 20th, 9:00 a.m. AT) will be deemed the Viewers' Choice top video pick!
