2011 AWARD RECIPIENTS
In 2011, Gambling Awareness Nova Scotia (formely Nova Scotia Gaming Foundation) invited graduating Grade Twelve students in Nova Scotia to create a short 3-minute video that debunked the common gambling myth, "It's easy to make money playing poker".
Based on the submissions, two academic scholarships were awarded:
Judges' Choice ($2000.00)
Sean Anderson & Mark Elliot, J.L. Ilsley High School
"Poker is for Jokers"
Viewers' Choice ($2000.00)
Dexter Pulsifer, Central Kings Rural High School
"Starts with a Full House"
Sean, Mark and Dexter plan to attend Saint Mary's University, Memorial University, and Nova Scotia Community College, Kingstec Campus, respectively.

2010 AWARD RECIPIENTS
In 2010, Gambling Awareness Nova Scotia (formerly Nova Scotia Gaming Foundation) invited graduating Grade Twelve students in Nova Scotia to answer the following question in a 1200-word essay:
According to Department of Health Promotion and Protection's [now Department of Health and Wellness] 2008 Nova Scotia Adolescent Gambling Exploratory Research Report, 28% of adolescents in Nova Scotia gamble on the internet with fake money or points.
With this figure in mind, explore the potential risks of Internet gambling for youth and discuss how their relationship to computers and technology may increase their risk of developing problems with Internet gambling.
Based on the quality of essay submissions, three academic scholarships were awarded:
